The Technical University of Liberec was founded in 1953 as the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and evolved into a full-fledged university by 1995. Located in northern Czechia, TUL educates about 7,000 students - including over 450 international degree seekers - through seven faculties and one specialized institute. It offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in areas such as mechanical engineering, textile engineering, economics, arts and architecture, mechatronics, health studies, and sciences.
TUL’s strengths lie in its hands-on education and applied research excellence, exemplified by the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies, and Innovation with 19 laboratories and inventions like the Nanospider . The university supports strong international engagement - partnering with over 150 institutions globally, including Erasmus+ exchanges, dual-degree bachelor’s and master’s programs, and the January 2024 nanomaterials research pact with the University of Waterloo .
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Alte University and TUL. The collaboration offers diverse opportunities for students, academic, and administrative staff to gain international experience. The agreement between the universities will facilitate the organization of exchange programs for academic staff and students, joint research projects, exchange of teaching materials and literature, as well as the development of joint academic programs.
