The local semi-final of the SDG Sustainable Development Olympiad 2026 was successfully held at Alte University!
Participating teams presented their innovative projects to an esteemed panel of judges, which included:
- Ruso Sanadze - Dean of the IT School at Alte University
- Salome Oniani - Associate Professor of the IT School at Alte University
- Garik Teimurazian - R&D Manager at the Georgian Renewable Energy Development Association (GREDA)
- Tamar Makharadze - Vice-President for Finances and Operations at Alte University
- Tornike Bakakuri - Director of the International Relations Department at Alte University
The event was also attended by key GREDA representatives, including Executive Director Maia Melikidze and Head of Strategic Development & Communications Irina Kometiani.
Two winning teams emerged from the semi-final stage:
- Alte University Choice: Safepeak with their project “Offline Survival Guide for Georgia’s Mountain Communities”
- GREDA Choice: Nakadi with their project "A Verifiable Research Assistant Built on a University Consortium"
Both teams were awarded a GEL 1,000 cash prize and will receive dedicated mentorship sessions from jury members as they prepare for the next stage. Ultimately, one final team will be selected to represent Alte University at the European Regional Finals in Geneva!
