SDG Sustainability Olympiad

The Sustainability Olympiad is a global student competition that brings together universities, students, and partners from around the world to develop innovative solutions to sustainable development challenges. The global final of the 2026 Olympiad will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 6–9, 2026.

In 2026, Alte University will host the local stage of the Sustainability Olympiad in Georgia. The Olympiad is an international student competition that unites young people from across the globe to design innovative and practical solutions addressing the challenges of sustainable development.

The competition is open to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Participants must form teams of two to three members, with at least one team member being a student of Alte University.

The winning team of the local stage will have the opportunity to:

  • Represent Alte University at the European Regional Semi-Final in Copenhagen, Denmark;
  • Compete in the International Final, which will be held at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, on November 6–9, 2026;
  • Receive a cash prize of 1,000 GEL awarded by Alte University.

As part of the Olympiad, Alte University will host the Student Scientific Conference, “Sustainable Development Goals: Student Research and Innovation,” on June 16, 2026. The conference will serve as the initial stage of the local Sustainability Olympiad competition.

The conference will include the SDG Solutions – Idea Generation Workshop, where participants will work in teams to develop innovative ideas and projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students may participate either with pre-formed teams or by creating new teams during the event.

Following the conference, teams will continue working on their projects. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in a WiP (Work-in-Progress) Mentoring Session, where they will receive expert feedback and recommendations to further refine and develop their ideas.

In July 2026, teams will present their projects during the Pitching Presentation stage. Following evaluation by the jury, the winning team will be selected and will represent Alte University at the international stages of the competition.

Registration is available via the designated registration link.
