Registration for the world's largest global hackathon, NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2026, has officially opened!
The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is an annual global hackathon that gives participants the opportunity to work on real-world challenges using open and free data from NASA and its 17 partner space agencies, including ESA, CSA, and JAXA.
This year, Alte University will once again be the local host and organizer of the hackathon in Zugdidi.
The theme for this year's challenge is "The Next Frontier," which involves working on solutions related to Earth and space exploration, artificial intelligence, astrophysics, and climate change.
As part of the hackathon, NASA experts will design around 20 challenges of varying difficulty levels, allowing participants to choose their preferred track:
- Software Engineering & AI: Data analysis, machine learning, and predictive models.
- Earth & Climate: Solutions for ecological issues, ocean, and weather monitoring.
- Space Engineering & Hardware: Lunar and Martian mission concepts and 3D prototypes.
- Design, Storytelling & Art: Data visualization, educational games, and digital art.
To participate in the hackathon, participants need to:
- Create a personal account at spaceappschallenge.org;
- Form a team (1 to 6 members);
- Register as a project participant via the link and select the local event in the city of "Zugdidi".
