Nana Mchedlidze is Master of Laws (TSU), Master of Laws in International Development Law and Human Rights (Warwick University), and International and European Law (Utrecht University). Her Ph.D. thesis concerns the application of the ECHR by courts of Georgia.
Nana Mchedlidze has an ample experience of working in governmental agencies as well as in international and non-governmental organisations. In 1998-2001, she worked at the Ministry of Justice of Georgia (the last function – representing the state before the ECtHR) and in 2001-2007, she worked at the Constitutional Court of Georgia (last position – Head of the Legal Department). In 2008-2012, she worked as a Legal Expert for UNDP; in 2012-2016, as a Legal Expert for the DOJ of the US Embassy in Georgia; and in 2017-2020, as a Legal Expert for the European Union’s international consortium European Profiles S.A. Since 2020, she has been working as a strategic litigation expert at an NGO Rights Georgia.
Since 2001, Nana Mchedlidze has been conducting trainings sessions on human rights in Georgia and abroad under the auspices of international organisations, including for legal professionals, journalists and physicians. She is a certified tutor of the Council of Europe’s HELP programme. She is the author of about 50 works (handbooks, articles and research papers).
Since 2020, she has been a member of the academic staff of Alte University. Initially, she worked as a visiting lecturer, later as an associate professor of the School of Law, and since 2024 – as a professor of the School of Law and Social Sciences.
