Maia Melikidze holds a Master’s degree in Global Strategic Management from Harvard University. In 2021, she earned her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree, with research focused on the integration of renewable—particularly solar—energy into business models. She is the author of numerous academic and professional publications on renewable energy development and the potential of solar technologies in Georgia.
From 2017 to 2023, Ms. Melikidze served as a Commissioner of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (GNERC). Earlier, she worked as an economic advisor to the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili. Her professional background also includes more than thirteen years of private-sector experience, with leadership roles at Ernst & Young, Bank of Georgia, and Liberty Bank.
Since August 2023, Ms. Melikidze has served as Executive Director of the Georgian Renewable Energy Development Association (GREDA), leading the organization’s expanding national and regional engagement in energy transformation initiatives. She chaired the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) from 2020 to 2024 and served on its Presidium from 2018 to 2020. In 2023, she was elected Vice-Chair of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER), a position she held until February 2025, contributing significantly to global regulatory dialogue during a critical period for the energy sector.
Since 2025, Ms. Melikidze has also served as Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Business Administration at Alte University.
