Alte University Launches the “Student Communication Representatives” Project

Alte University has launched a new initiative, Student Communication Representatives, aimed at strengthening communication between students and the university, facilitating the effective exchange of information, supporting student-led initiatives, amplifying student voices, and creating an environment in which students actively contribute to the university’s development.

The project is based on the model developed by SPARQS (Student Partnerships in Quality Scotland), an organization that promotes student engagement and student voice within higher education institutions. SPARQS’ approach is founded on partnership between students and universities, fostering more effective communication, supporting student initiatives, and strengthening student participation in the enhancement of educational quality.

The first orientation meeting within the project was held on May 15. Students were welcomed by Irma Grdzelidze, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research, who spoke about the importance of the student voice, student involvement in university governance processes, and the need for initiatives that encourage active student participation. Representatives of the Student Experience Management Department and the Quality Management Department also attended the meeting.

The event also featured invited international expert Eve Lewis, Director of SPARQS (Student Partnerships in Quality Scotland), who discussed the importance of partnership in quality enhancement and shared insights from the Scottish higher education experience.

As part of the project, a team-building activity was organized for participating students on May 20, with the aim of fostering stronger communication and collaboration among team members. The activity was led by Marika Nebieridze, Business Trainer, Learning & Development Consultant, and Assistant Professor at Alte University. Through a variety of interactive exercises, students had the opportunity to get to know one another better, laying the foundation for effective collaboration and active engagement throughout the project.

During the current semester, the project was implemented in pilot mode within the International School of Medicine and the School of Business. Beginning next semester, the initiative will be expanded to include all schools of Alte University.
