Students of Alte University at Council of Europe's training

Students of the Information Technology School at Alte University - Levan Omiadze, Saba Gvaramadze, and Giorgi Merebashvili - participated in a three-day training organized by the Council of Europe titled “Ethical by Design: Integrating Gender Equality into Digital Innovation”.

The training was conducted within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Reinforcing Gender Equality and Implementing GREVIO Recommendations to Combat Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence in Georgia”. The project aims to strengthen prevention, protection, and response mechanisms against violence against women and domestic violence, as well as to promote gender equality across various sectors, including ICT.

The objective of the training was to enhance participants’ skills and understanding of how technology-facilitated violence against women and girls manifests, how gender bias emerges in digital systems and AI, and how such bias can be reduced. Students explored ways to integrate human rights and gender equality principles at all stages of technology design, development, and implementation.

The event highlighted the importance of creating an inclusive and safe digital environment - one in which technologies serve care, equality, and safety.

The training included interactive sessions, discussions led by international experts, and practical workshops.

Alte University actively supports students in gaining such experiences and will continue to ensure their engagement in international projects, contributing to the development of their professional skills as well as their ethical awareness and sense of social responsibility.
