MIND YOUR MENINGES: UNITING AGAINST MENINGITIS

In April, ASRU hosted an impactful event titled "Mind your Meninges: Uniting Against Meningitis," aimed at raising awareness about meningitis. A total of 90 students attended this event at Alte University on 26th April.

The event began with a captivating guest lecture by Dr Aleks Mindadze and his resident colleagues Dr Natia Bitsadze and Dr Tatuli Mgvdliashvili, which was followed by an engaging question and answer session where attendees had the opportunity to clarify their doubts directly with the expert.

Adding an element of fun, the event featured interactive activities such as risk factor guessing and symptoms acting, encouraging participants to actively engage with the subject matter.  A highlight of the event was the "Spin the Wheel" game, which provided an entertaining yet educational way for attendees to learn about various aspects of meningitis.

The event took a more personal turn with the sharing of real-life incidences of meningitis by Debleena and Samruddhi, underscoring the importance of understanding and preventing this potentially serious illness.

Attendees were also given the opportunity to fill in a CSF findings table, deepening their understanding of the diagnostic process.

A practical knowledge workshop on lumbar puncture was conducted by Vedangi from events team, offering attendees detailed insights into the procedure through both explanation and video demonstration.

Additionally, a workshop on abstract writing, led by a research team, provided valuable guidance on communicating scientific findings effectively. The event concluded with heartfelt thanks to all participants for their active involvement and a renewed commitment to spreading awareness about meningitis. Small tokens of appreciation were given to the most engaged students, further fostering a sense of community and motivation to combat this disease.

Overall, "Mind your Meninges" served as a comprehensive and engaging platform for learning, sharing, and uniting against meningitis.
