Dr. Irma Grdzelidze is a Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research and Head of the Academic Council at Alte University. With over two decades of leadership experience in higher education quality assurance, she has promoted the internal and external evaluation of higher and vocational study programs, advanced the quality of teaching and research, and supported the integration of Georgian universities into the international education landscape. She is an active researcher, intensively engaged in research projects with national and international peers. Her research interests include higher and vocational education administration, quality assurance, internationalization, doctoral education, etc.
A Fulbright Scholar (UARK, 2021), she chairs the Erasmus+ HERE team in Georgia, serves on the Steering Committee at EUA’s Council for Doctoral Education, and is a DAAD Bologna Peer Hub expert. She has participated in numerous CBHE projects, including ETHICS, DESIRE, INTEGRITY, MAHATMA, POWER, and TNA. Dr. Grdzelidze served as the coordinator of the SQUARE project, which enhanced the quality and relevance of the third mission in Georgian universities and is a key contributor to the IDEG project on internationalizing doctoral education. She also consults HEIs in Georgia and abroad, organizes academic staff trainings, and engages with stakeholders across sectors. Recently, Dr. Grdzelidze has served as the Chair of the Coordination Council of the National Center of Educational Quality Enhancement.
