The aim of the center is to promote the implementation of modern standard processes at the university, strengthen educational programs with the latest technological components, and develop new technological educational programs and training courses that utilize digital capabilities.
In order to implement the latest methodologies of digital transformation in Georgia, the center cooperates with both local and foreign partners in various fields, including education, healthcare, the technological-engineering industry, public administration, and business.
In accordance with the university's third mission statement, the Digital Transformation Center, in active cooperation with the schools of Alte University and with the involvement of international partners, initiates and implements projects to raise awareness of technology and digital opportunities in society. The center actively works to empower women in technology and promote technological education in the regions.
In the near future, the Digital Transformation Center plans to evolve into a consultancy to help Georgian organizations raise awareness of digital transformation and access the latest information, enabling them to utilize the knowledge gained to improve their business processes.
Activities of the Digital Transformation Center at Alte University:
From November 2022 to March 2023, the Digital Transformation Center and the School of Medicine at Alte University executed a project funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, titled “Medical Technologies in Schools.” This project involved Georgian scientists and researchers based abroad, including Davit Managadze from DNANexus (California), Zaza Chitishvili from Calico (California), Temur Gochitashvili, a PhD student in Synthetic Biology at the Max Planck Institute and iGEM Ambassador (Leipzig), and Ana Tomasi from the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago).
In 2022, under the leadership of Nana Dikhamiendzhia, the Digital Transformation Center at Alte University was granted the rights to conduct the TECHNOVATION GIRLS project in Georgia. Technovation Girls is an annual event held in 60 countries worldwide, aimed at preparing girls aged 13 to 18 for programming and entrepreneurship, and identifying technological solutions to the problems they encounter. One cycle of the project was completed from October 2022 to August 2023, with the next cycle commencing in November 2023.
The project “Developing Opportunities for Smart Transformation of Rural Areas” is supported by the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD). In partnership with the Innovative Education Foundation and Alte University, Nana Dikhamiendzhia, Director of the Digital Transformation Center, and Associate Professor Salome Oniani prepared materials on technological development in agriculture and conducted 12 lectures with farmers in Lagodekhi, Khulo, Kazbegi, and Keda. As part of the project, an AgriTech conference was held at Alte University on October 8, 2022.
On June 29, 2022, the Digital Transformation Center at Alte University, organized by Director Nana Dikhamiendzhia, hosted a WEB 3.0 conference. The conference, titled "Digital Transformation Forum of Georgia 2022," featured both Georgian and international experts.
On September 27, 2022, Nana Dikhamiendzhia, Director of the Digital Transformation Center, spoke at a webinar organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Georgia in San Francisco, BoomStartUp Accelerator, and the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia. The webinar, titled "Global Trends and Opportunities for Women in Technology and Investment Sectors," included discussions on empowering women in technology with professors from Ohio University, investors, and founders of accelerators.
In April 2022, Nana Dikhamiendzhia represented Alte University at a conference organized by Globalize in Silicon Valley, where she led two panels: “Opportunities for Commercializing Science” and “Women in Technology.”
In June 2022, Nana Dikhamiendzhia led a panel on “Digital Transformation Trends” at a conference organized by Globalize in Paris.
In 2022, Nana Dikhamiendzhia conducted an online lecture on climate change technologies for a project supported by the Georgian diaspora in Germany. The project focuses on developing innovative tech solutions to address climate change impacts in Akhmeta and Tkibuli schools.
Invited by UNA-Georgia, as part of the “Mobile University” project, Nana Dikhamiendzhia conducted technology lectures for high school students at the Ozurgeti Technopark and the Lanchkhuti Young Teachers’ Center.
In 2022, Nana Dikhamiendzhia served as a jury member at the “Innovative Technologies for Combating Disinformation” competition organized by USAID and Zinc Technologies.
