Alte University is a sponsor of the National Teacher Award

Alte University has been a sponsor of the National Teacher Award for two years now. At the award ceremony held on October 4th, they presented a monetary prize to their chosen recipient, Dimitri Popov, and promised to support the technological projects he will implement for school students.

Dimitri is a mathematics and computer technology teacher at the public school in the village of Gurjaani. He is a trainer for the National Center for Teacher Professional Development and the educational platform CK12. Alte University’s honoree has actively assisted schools in creating digital strategies as part of the joint project "Digital School Georgia" with DGSALT and Tallinn University. Over the years, he has planned and executed projects focused on the use of digital tools in the classroom in collaboration with the Microsoft Georgia team. He has also worked with eTwinning as an ambassador for the program.

Dimitri Popov’s contribution to the implementation and development of computer technologies is evident in the examples of his students, who are now beneficiaries of a tech park and participate in various grant competitions.

The partnership between Alte University and the National Teacher Award goes beyond simply identifying an annual honoree. For two years, it has supported the initiatives of the National Teacher Award’s Club of Ten and hosts their annual conference. Additionally, based on the Club of Ten, a council of mentor teachers has been established at Alte University, which will initiate and implement projects to address various challenges in schools.

The National Teacher Award, which has existed since 2017, is part of a global campaign aimed at promoting the profession in Georgia, enhancing the prestige of educators, identifying successful teachers, and presenting them to the community.
