The Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL) was co-founded in 2022 as a joint initiative by the China National Space Administration (CNSA), Anhui Province, and the University of Science and Technology of China, with its headquarters in Hefei and a branch in Beijing. It serves as the central research hub for China’s International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) program, focusing on lunar surface, orbital, and Earth-based scientific experiments. DSEL also hosts the “International Outstanding Young Talents” program, aimed at attracting global scholars in aerospace, planetary science, AI, and related fields .
DSEL is a strong proponent of international cooperation, having signed memorandum of understanding with over 40 institutions from countries like Serbia, Switzerland, UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Panama, and South Africa during the 2nd International Deep Space Exploration Conference . It operates under ILRS principles of consultation, shared development, and mutual benefit, aiming to build a lunar research station by 2035 . Through its MoUs and talent programs, DSEL is committed to fostering a global ecosystem of space exploration and deep-space research.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Alte University and DSEL. The collaboration offers diverse opportunities for students, academic, and administrative staff to gain international experience. The agreement between the universities will facilitate the organization of exchange programs for academic staff and students, joint research projects, exchange of teaching materials and literature, as well as the development of joint academic programs.
