Tehran University of Medical Sciences, founded in 1851 as part of Dar-ol-Fonoon and established independently in 1986, is Iran’s premier medical university. It comprises 11 schools including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Nursing - with more than 250 academic programs and over 1,600 faculty in around 16 teaching hospitals. TUMS serves approximately 13,000 students, including more than 2,200 international students.
The university conducts advanced biomedical research through numerous specialized centers covering areas like oncology, cardiology, immunology, and biotechnology . TUMS also hosts international summer programs, supports global faculty and student mobility, and collaborates on health-technology innovation such as its Health Technology Incubator and recent research partnerships like one with Turkey’s Inci Dental.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Alte University and Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The collaboration offers diverse opportunities for students, academic, and administrative staff to gain international experience. The agreement between the universities will facilitate the organization of exchange programs for academic staff and students, joint research projects, exchange of teaching materials and literature, as well as the development of joint academic programs.
